In Julie’s book, The Orphaned Wife, she tells the story of living in a marriage with an emotionally disconnected man, and how God used that marriage as a catalyst for her emotional healing journey. She addresses these issues, using scriptures and her personal testimony. In a companion Study Guide, which can be used by a group or an individual, Julie helps the reader to go more deeply into a personal healing journey, using thoughtful questions and appropriate scriptures. The Journal gives the reader space to express your thoughts and feelings. Click on the link below to get a sample of the Journal.

I feel like this book will speak to a lot of women. I am an emotional woman & need to be heard & validated. I love how Julie has turned a life experience into a story that turns you to the truth of what God says. We all go through challenges and the question is "What are we going to do with it?" I love how Julie explains that this was a long time journey & she needed help processing her hurts. There was someone there for her to help and she was able to get her story on paper for the world to see. I know allot of women who are on this journey alone or they feel alone. This book helps to let women know they aren't alone.
As an unmarried woman the book presented a lot of tools to use and pitfalls to avoid in order to have a functioning marriage. I like the analogy of the orphan wife and the phantom husband. As you read these two images will become more and more clear and very potent warnings. The book is full of meaningful scriptures and beautiful poetry. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Orphaned Wife is an intriguing story, and one that is all too common. As a man it had me reflecting on my own relationship with my wife and thinking about the intimacy in our marriage. The analogy of the garden and the man slowly losing interest in the garden with which God had entrusted him had me thinking about my garden and how I've been tending it and whether the Lord is pleased with me. Thanks for writing this book, Julie.
While I am not a huge Christian, I found myself relating to the author's trials and reasoning of how to move through them with grace and make sense of why they happen. It was comforting to know I wasn't the only one who wondered the same things and found comfort in her words, and eased up on my own regrets. Give this one a shot. Even if you're not overtly Christian, you just might find some comfort in her story too!
I enjoyed reading this book even though I have never been married. I like how the author aunthetically shares issues that went in her marriage life that are an eye opener for me. She describes how signifacant it is to address marital issues from an "emotional rather than intellectual basis". Her use of biblical words gives me the confidence to encourage anyone that is going through marital issues to read her book, God's word is the source of healing and restoration.

Ashes on the Altar is the faith-based story of Julie Cunningham’s spiritual wilderness journey, and the lessons she learned. It’s the perfect book for Christians who mean business with God, want to pursue a deeper walk with Him, and need help with pushing through wilderness difficulties.
Is meant to encourage and guide us into a deeper journey with Jesus Christ. It is the third book in The Orphaned Wife trilogy.
Cunningham examines life as we come out of our wilderness and cross our Jordan River. Just as a butterfly pauses after emerging from the cocoon, so do we. Our wings have to dry, and during this period of transition, we look around at our new life. We’ve learned many lessons during the wilderness journey, and we continue to pursue a closer, deeper relationship with Jesus. What’s next? What are the possibilities?
As we continue our journey, let us continue to develop that intimate, first love relationship with Jesus as we walk in love and holiness. And remember, we are called to be butterflies glowing in the light of His presence, spreading the beauty of His love to everyone.
